Bigfoot and Wildboy Intro

Gas Prices... Who The Craz-zay One?

Who's the dummy now? Have you noticed the gas prices? Are you still wondering why I try to walk (or bike) everywhere? I've got thousands of dollars in savings over the last few years. It's only going to get more expensive. I'll walk as much as I can. I can always use the exercise.

It's ridiculous.

The Romantics - Talking In Your Sleep

Another '80s classic. One of the best bass lines ever. They're so corny but this song is so good. I love it! I love the introduction of the band scene. Watch how they introduce the lead singer. It makes me laugh so hard. "Now look pouty and pucker your lips", "Okay, that looks sexy". "Okay, now stand up one at a time", "More Smoke, More Smoke". LOL, LOL, LOL!

Far Out Space Nuts - Opening & Closing Themes

Saturday

Saturday is here. No work. No thinking about work. Just spending the weekend doing whatever comes to mind.

The weather hasn't been the greatest so I've still been inside a little more than I'd like. Saturdays are for reading the paper, watching Baseball (or Basketball), makin' lunch, playing video games and taking naps.

The new GTA (Grand Theft Auto) comes out next week and I'm kind of excited to play as the new protagonist who's an immigrant in New York (Liberty City) and "'jack some cars" and run over some video game people. I was playing the last game recently where you're a black kid from '90s South Central LA and shooting "gang bangers" and doin' drive-bys with my "hood girlfriend" (who likes to do drive-bys on dates). There is something very disturbing about these games but they're so over the top they're obviously spoofs of movies and pop culture. They're so open ended you can almost do anything. I like getting on a motorcycle and crusing at top speed only to jump off some ramp to make the bike fly in the air and eventually crash into a bunch of cars. What fun! I got so sick of my annoying girlfriend in the game that I had my character (C.J.) run her over after takin' her to a seedy neighborhood bar. Who says video games aren't positive?

World of Warcraft is still Marc's favorite so he's said he'll run around with me in Azeroth until my guy gets leveled up to 70 (I'm at 59) which could take many, many hours of dungeon crawling. The new WOW expansion pack comes out later this year. I really think you'd love that world. Lots of girls play it. I haven't played in months but it's one of those games that there are always quests to do and it's super social. You chat with people all the time in game.

I love me some Saturdays!

Secret to Happiness: The Hamburger

In honor of your new nephew I thought I would share one of many Secrets to Happiness: The Hamburger at home.

It's super easy to make the most delicious burgers in the world, just like you like 'em, at home.

Pick up the ingredients: Ground beef, white onion, lettuce, buns, etc... Simple is always better. Cut the pound beef into 1/4s or 1/3s. Wet your hands with a little water and gently paddy the beef as thin as you can get it while keeping the edges intact. Put frying pan on medium heat. Put beef patty on the frying pan and the rest in the freezer for another delicious dinner later. Fry until the juice starts boiling out and flip over. Salt and pepper the patty liberally. Super simple and super delicious. Dress bun with your favorite toppings. Yummy. Tastes great with blue cheese salad and/or potato chips. Get over your fear of ground beef and make a delicious burger today.

The Romantics - One In A Million

Going with my Greatest of the '80s songs and videos... this is in my top favorite songs list. I was was probably day dreaming about singing this to some girl I had a crush on. I never knew the singer was so gosh darn goofy. I still love the song and their other famous hit Talking In Your Sleep.

My favorite part, besides the great '80s booty in the red mini-skirt, is the cliche nerd working the ice cream stand playing the malt cups (steel drums) with his scoopers.

Electra Woman & Dyna Girl

Do you remember this at all? This was in the Land of the Lost era. My brother used to love this when we were little. I remember the song. It's pretty jammin'.

Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)

I like looking back at old videos because they've got so much more meaning as an adult. This song and video is so "gay" but as a kid I just thought he was scary and singing about a girl. He's obviously not writing songs about being in love with girls. I don't care that he's gay but it's interesting to see some of these videos that were planted in your sub-conscience as a child with adult eyes.

Rice Grasshoppers

Click on picture to enjoy these amazing 'nimals. I've been getting into insects lately and think they're cool and little tiny miracles.

What about the tiniest of animals? How do they fit in your theory of life of Earth? Are there grasshoppers in heaven? Lol! You can use that for the title of your self-help book you're going to write when you're in your fourties, wear clogs, tights, and a really colorful loose shirt that isn't tucked in to hide your ginormous middle aged booty. Will you get more "new agey" as you age living in the 'fornia?

Growing Up: Kittens

I love "Growing Up" videos. I'll try and find more of other animals.

Sleestak on A-Team

What! What! What?

Sleestak Are Scary

Star Wars World War II Era

Talk about Super Nerds. There is a huge and I mean H U G E action figure community online. They make custom action figures of characters that haven't been produced or they make up their own series. It's super nerdy and super cool.

M--- is really into Marvel Comics action figures with the kids and has pointed me to websites with professional photos of collections of nerds all around the world. They're actually kind of cool... but what I really like are the one of a kind custom action figures.

This is someone's Star Wars creation but as if it existed in 1942 World War II universe. Pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty good work. I love the internet.

This is super cute and it made me laugh.

This Week In Pop Culture Garbage

Here's what I wasted my time with for entertainment this week:
DVD suggestions: Juno - I think I really liked this movie. I shouldn't have liked it. I hate pregnant girls. I hate "too cool for school" dialogue. I should have hated everything about it but I didn't. I really liked it and think it's a classic that shouldn't be missed.
Walk Hard - From the same dude who did Superbad and Knocked Up. I thought it was a really funny spoof on music movies. I think John C. Reilly is really funny and laughed really hard at a couple of parts. You may hate it or love it. It spoofs the history of Rock n' Roll and the songs are actually pretty good as comedy songs go. I didn't see Walk the Line and I'm sure it spoofs it directly as he's a Johnny Cash type character.

"Let's Duet" from Walk Hard

Here's a clip from Walk Hard. It's got some super stupid humor but he just makes me laugh. I think the songs from the movie are hilarious because they actually sound kinda good.

Overused: "Can't You See" and "She Said"

I have two "new" overused sayings or clichés in songs. See if you come across these.
"She Said" and "Can't You See". There are seemingly millions of pop songs with those horribly overused sayings. "She said, blah blah blah". I hear it all the time and it makes me cringe. "Can't you see, blah, blah, blah". They're so overused it's hilarious. Perk your ears up when listening to the radio or your iPod (what's it's name by the way?) and I guarantee you'll hear those words.

Dave Grohl Acting Like A Teenage Werewolf

In my quest to get you to think Dave Grohl is gross here he is (on your favorite show, I think) acting like a teenager and worst of all smoking! He's also making a comment on how people drink artificial coffee creamer while having a ciggy in his mouth. Yuck! I'm sure you'll still idolize him but I'll always post Dave smoking videos if I can find them

Book Suggesties: Scott Pilgrim

Try out this series: Scott Pilgrim by Brian Lee O'Malley. It's good and enjoyable to read. It's basically a western version of manga and very "girl friendly". My brother suggested the series.

I'm no manga expert but the artwork and presentation is very "manga-like". Graphic novels are the perfect blend of reading, tv, and a movie.

I reserve books online all the time. It's really fun to get a graphic novel and lunch from Famous Dave's and sit in the back and read in the springtime... and to feed the squirrels, birds, and chipmunks.
